Great Place to Work Nigeria, (GPTWN) an affiliate of Great Place to Work, San Francisco, a global research, consulting and training institute that specializes in analyzing, understanding, selecting and publishing best workplaces in the country has recognized Nigeria’s largest online mall, Konga as one of the best places to work in Nigeria at the 2015 edition of the awards.
Addressing the press at the third edition of the award and dinner ceremony tagged, ‘Good to Great,’ held in Lagos, the Country Manager for GTPWN, Michael Thomas said Konga was recognized on account of its strong ethical standards and work-friendly environment.
The Chairman of GTPWN, Ghandi Olaoye, who described Konga as exceptional and an exemplary corporate citizen, informed that there is a growing desire among companies in Nigeria to build great places to work.
He also explained the criteria for the winning the award, “the selection was made by critically looking at employee perceptions as indicated in GPTWN Trust Index Survey. The Survey measures employees’ perception of their companies by asking probing questions about their work environment.”
Ikeoluwapo Akinbami, Vice President, Human Resources for Konga, thanked the organizers for the recognition given to the company, saying that the award will spur it to strive more to achieve its objective of building a world-class work environment that fosters fun and employee engagement. She noted that being the only indigenous company in Nigeria in the e-commerce sub-sector to be so recognized alongside top blue-chip multinational companies is indeed very gratifying and humbling considering we are barely 3 years old.
