Femi Adesina Returned As President Of Editors’ Guild

The Editor-in-Chief of The Sun newspapers, Mr. Femi Adesina, has retained his position as the president of the Nigerian Guild of Editors for another term of two years. Adesina was returned unopposed at the 2015 bi-ennial convention of the Guild which held in Lagos by his colleagues, most of whom described his tenure as the “best the Guild has ever had”. Other executive members were also elected into various positions. The Sun’s General Editor (Fashion and Style), Mrs. Funke Egbemode, also returned unopposed as the social publicity secretary of the association. The position of secretary, hotly contested for by Mustapha Isa of Silverbird Television and Victoria Ibanga, former editor at Champion newspapers, was clinched by Ibanga, who polled 117 votes to defeat Isa who polled 103 votes. Earlier, the host governor, Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola, of Lagos State, represented by the Lagos State Commissioner for Information Lateef Ibirogba, lauded the editors for being part of the success story of leadership in Lagos State through their “constructive criticisms and agenda-setting roles”. The chairperson of the occasion, Mrs. Dupe Ajayi-Gbadebo, urged the editors never to relent in their duty as society’s watch-dog, especially in a democratic Nigeria. http://perfectbrandsng.com/femi-adesina-returned-as-president-of-editors-guild/
